San Valentin dance in Zapata

After a long day working with both repairing transmitters and microphones we also had a couples ceremony at Milagro. When we where finished around 22.30 Dave and I drove back home to Blue Bay. On the way we passed Zapata and could hear the distant sound of ompa-ompa music. Curious as we are we had to check it out. It’s always interesting to see the local life. A few blocks down from the main street there was a San Valentin dance. We had a Modelo beer and started to look at people dancing. The girls working at Milagro was there with their boy friends dancing the night away.
I can’t really understand this mexican ompa music. It’s a lot of tuba with a tango like beat. Sometimes down here you can se a ‘cool’ mexican cowboy cruising in his truck with the speakers pumping out ompa music to impress the ladies. It’s a pity I can’t capture that sight on a picture. Instead I captured two of the ‘Chicas locas’ doing a sign that means ‘Wow. look’ or something like that if I understood things right. We learn new things everyday here in the land of ompa and tequila.

Happy Valentines day :)
